Day 23 of Iranian Revolution

*Day 23 of Revolution in Iran*

Just like our childhood stories, this beautiful and tragic revolution produces new myths, symbols, legends, every few days.

The past few days in Iran have been captured by the memory of another beautiful 16-year-old protester brutally beaten to death by the government: Sarina Esmailzadeh.

Sarina was a vlogger, and a lot of her videos have gone viral in Iranian social media. She was intelligent beyond her years, speaking eloquently of her visions of freedom, and dreams for the future.

In this particularly poignant clip, she is just *being*: singing her heart out on a ride, to Hozier’s Take Me To Church.

“Take me to church

I'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies

I'll tell you my sins and you can sharpen your knife

Offer me that deathless death

Good God, let me give you my life

Take me to church

I'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies

I'll tell you my sins and you can sharpen your knife

Offer me that deathless death

Good God, let me give you my life”
