My Father’s Day present was 24 hours off from life — I had an evening and a morning to myself, in a hotel room, alone, with no obligations whatsoever.
That evening, as I was sitting in a bar, sipping on champagne and listening to live cover of classic rock songs, my mind was FREE to wander.
I thought about so many things: my relationships; reflections on the past two years as a father; work, family, friends.
In that moment, I realized that often I’m not resting, but just zoning out.
Now that I finally had even just one evening to myself, knowing that everything is taken care of, I could find room to rest, in that freedom.
My mind was wandering, playing around in the field of ideas and memories — truly resting.
Zoning out is not resting!
