The Broom Model of Networking

Don't measure the success of your networking by how many people respond to you, or agree to be in your network (pic 1).

Because if you connect with one right person, they are able to connect you with so many more genuine connections (pic 2).

If you focus on your initial success rate, you'll miss the bigger picture.

But if you zoom out and have perspective, you'll see the bigger picture.

I wish I knew this all those times I went to a networking event and was completely overwhelmed with all the people there, buzzing about and everyone - but me - seemingly having a grand ol' time!

I didn't have to meet everyone and network with everyone.

I just needed to find the right one.
