We are taught to judge success and failure based on results.
But results, and outcomes, are not in our control.
Even if we do everything right, the world is beyond our control (luck, timing, health, other people being among the forces outside our control).
That’s why we should view results as bonuses, not goals.
If we apply ourselves - truly, fully, intentionally - to the task at hand, we have already achieved.
If we win a medal for it, so be it — all the better!
If we don’t win a medal for it, oh well — we have already won!
Results are bonuses, not goals!
