Rreally *understanding* a problem is more important than providing a solution.


This is true in relationships too: Understandjng your partner’s feelings is more important than providing a justification / response.


Reminds me of a wonderful quote from Jeremi Suri, paraphrasing FDR: “If you want to bring people together, don’t offer solutions. Explain the problem.”


Empathizing over the problem creates engagement and connection; and helps you craft better solutions.
