“Most of our thoughts are assumptions.”
I’ve been sitting with this epiphany for the past few days.
I think it was such a powerful realization.
That MOST of our thoughts are assumptions.
(And I count judgments as assumptions — because judgments are often based on assumptions.)
Think about it for a day.
About your own thoughts.
Aren’t most of them assumptions?
I was at the dentist this week. My phone in my pocket rang. I couldn’t get to it. Immediately I started thinking bad things — Issa was a bit under the weather, and I could have sworn that was my wife calling to tell me something had happened to Issa. Maybe even it was her telling me they were on their way to the ER, that I should meet them there after I was done.
The dentist finished. I checked my phone.
It was a telemarketer.
Most of our thoughts, are assumptions.
