“Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards. Life is not a problem to be solved, but a reality to be experienced.”
- Søren Kierkegaard
One of my all time favorite quotes, courtesy of the brilliant Amir Khedmati.
Like me, Amir is a fellow University of California, Berkeley philosophy grad and a student of the late Hubert Dreyfuss, one of the foremost Heidegger scholars of the 20th Century.
Berkeley had a fantastic philosophy department. I can’t imagine having lived my life without knowing the lessons I learned in that department, as well as the core skills of logic and writing.
