Issa's teacher told me that Issa got into an argument with his classmate at daycare.
Issa and his classmate were each holding THEIR OWN water bottles:
Issa: "My water!"
Classmate (holding his own water bottle): "No, MY water!"
Issa: "No, MY WATER!"
The story was silly and cute at first.
But when I thought about it, I realized that most of our couples fights, parent/child fights, and other "adult" fights, are exactly the same:
"My hurt!"
"No, MY hurt!"
"No, MY HURT!"
One of the lessons I learned early in relationships was that the hardest fights are those when both sides are hurt (which often is the case).
In those cases, one person MUST take a leap of faith, express a generosity of the soul, and put a step in, across the aisle, to hear the other first.
That's the only way out.
Let's do better than the kids at daycare ❤️ ❤️
