Wonderful, wonderful insight from Jeremi Suri — and I think applicable to organizations too.
People don’t like being told what to do - even in the context of being offered solutions.
Rather, they want to feel empowered; that they have autonomy; and that they’re *part of* the solution, whatever it ends up being.
(Here, Jeremi is taking about FDR’s power to explain the problem of Great Depression to average Americans.)
