Focus on what’s not changing — those are the true meaningful things in life.

This is the same hill that my wife grew up playing on — in the small town of Bellefontaine, Ohio (population today: 14,000). 

Last week, we took our son Issa there, and he played on the same hill, just as his mama had done some decades ago. 

Even the metal seesaw, from my wife’s childhood, was still there. We sat on it and played, this time as a family. 

We are always so obsessed with things that are changing: AI, heightened political tensions, tablets, prices….

It was so humbling to be among some things that don’t change: hills, playgrounds, fun, family, community. 

Kids probably ran down hills ever since there were kids.
