Work goodbyes are hard.
You work with someone for so long, see them every day, become good, sometimes great, friends.
You fight through, overcome deep intellectual, professional, and sometimes personal challenges with them.
You share with them things you may not have shared with many other friends.
It’s a special type of relationship.
Then, one day, they leave, or you leave, and it suddenly stops.
You’re lucky if you see them one more time in your life.
Oscar Wilde says, “It is always painful to part from people whom one has known for a brief space of time. The absence of old friends one can endure with equanimity, But even a momentary separation from anyone to whom one has just been introduced is almost unbearable.”
One of my great work friends left work last week — and I miss him dearly, already ❤️
