Here’s a cool statistic: Mauna Kea, the tallest peak on the Big Island, is the world’s tallest mountain from base to peak.
It reaches a total elevation of 33,000 feet above the sea floor — 4,000 feet (1.2 kilometers) taller than Mount Everest!
