Unity in Persian New Year.

The Persian New Year (“Norooz,” literally “New Day”) starts at the first MOMENT of spring: this year, that is 8:06 pm and 26 seconds, Pacific Time, on March 19.

One of the beautiful things about the Persian New Year is that all who celebrate it (~200M of Iranians, Tajiks, Kurds, Afghans, Parsi’s, and others) celebrate it at EXACTLY the same moment, no matter where they are on earth.

What a beautiful image.

One of the things we do for the Persian New Year is that we grow some kind of grass from seeds at home — to welcome spring.

These are my lentils that I bought from the store, submerged in water for a day, and am now going to cover with a wet paper towel that I’ll keep wet for another 2-3 days until they sprout.

“After” picture coming March 19!
