This is where I started.

This is where I started.

Jack in the Box, Los Gatos, CA.

Señor Ruben was my first manager.

$5.75/hr was my minimum wage.

I worked alongside some of the hardest working, kindest, humblest folks ever.

I learned that 99c double tacos 🌮 🌮 were super sellers.

I hated making Bacon Cheddar Potato Wedges. The wedges alone took 4 mins 30 seconds to fry. This was a ~6-min dish that backed up the drive thru lane.

I judged people who ordered the Chicken Fajita Pita.

I learned the bare basics of customer service.

I learned how to work a point of sale system.

And once I forgot to include the fish in a hard-working gentleman’s fish & chips order; AFTER he had told me that we forgot the fish last time, and I had ASSURED him that I had included the fish this time.

I watched the gentleman patiently wait for the bus outside. And I saw the fish come down the conveyer belt just as his bus pulled away.

The thought of him having gotten home to open his bag, only to realize the main part of his order was missing, all after a looooong day’s work, still upsets me - seriously - to this day.

When I saw In-N-Out paid $9.25/hr, I jumped ship.

That’s another set of stories....
