Why are simple things sometimes so hard to do in a company?
Because colleagues talk past each other by simply exchanging information about their respective domains of expertise.
Example:
Colleague A: “Our customer’s compliance department has asked for evidence of A.”
Colleague B: “We only have evidence of B.”
And the loop to nowhere starts: the matter gets escalated, both colleagues and their teams get frustrated; the customer is the most frustrated; and so on — we have all been there.
To break the loop, either or both colleagues need to take a leap of faith and STEP INTO the space between the information.
Stepping into that space can be scary; it can be risky.
It may seem easier, in the short run, to “stick to what you know.” You won’t make any mistakes that way.
But you also won’t grow that way; and neither will your team, or your company.
Your customer surely won’t get what they need, in a timely manner.
So, step into that space; be proactive; take risks; close loops; grow your confidence.
Because solutions lie in the space between information.
