Issa turns 6 weeks tomorrow, and I’ve already learned my first big lesson as a father:
That love, even of your child, is built, nurtured, and grown — not automatic.
I had thought that I would feel 100% of my love for Issa the moment I first meet him.
But, my love for him grows every day; and I have really enjoyed putting all the work in, and watching him put all the work in, in growing our relationship; getting to know each other; and learning how to love each other.
It’s like a beautiful dance.
Like other good things in life - health, integrity, consistency - love too needs effort, discipline, and perseverance.
