I wrote “Letters to My Nephew” for my nephew; whatever else may have happened after, was going to be a bonus.

My father had a great habit:

In every family vacation, or day trip, there would come a moment — usually towards the beginning of the vacation or trip — where something awesome would happen (after a delicious meal, or a great family picture session, for example), and he would say something like, “This vacation just paid for itself! Everything else from this point on, is a BONUS!”

It was such a great reminder for us to take a step back, to appreciate that we were there in the first place, and to remove the pressure of expectations.

Nothing else was expected; and everything else was a bonus.

I wrote “Letters to My Nephew” for my nephew; whatever else may have happened after, was going to be a bonus.

That’s why I was grateful and shocked when it climbed to #6 on Amazon’s list of college guides over the weekend — with zero advertising, zero marketing, other than my post about it here last week (and similar personal posts on Facebook and Instagram).

Thank you all for your wonderful support — I feel humble and grateful 🥹
