In a team, Expectation levels must roughly match Trust levels.

To enhance performance within a team, the level of Expectation must roughly match the level of Trust.

If there's more Expectation than Trust, performance suffers. How can you expect people to do great work, if you don't trust them to do great work? (And how motivated were you, to do great work, if you felt your colleagues and managers didn't trust you?)

Conversely, if there's more Trust than Expectation, growth suffers. We may feel complacent, and reduce risk-taking.

As a general rule, teams must find the right balance between Expectation and Trust to further unlock their potential.
