Here's one way to lead: Act like the company you want to be in!
This is how it goes:
__________
I write and share a lot.
Sometimes, I want to share something, but then I feel fear.
"What would my co-workers think of me?" I think.
Or, "What if people think something's wrong with me, after they heard it?"
What often helps me break through these fears, is this -- I ask myself:
- "What kind of company do I want to work in?" Or,
- "What kind of society I want to live in?"
Of course I want to work in a company, and live in a society, where everyone feels safe in sharing their feelings; where everyone feels safe in being themselves.
So, I can act like the company I want to be in.
If I don't, I'm not leading; I'm merely following my fears; or maybe other people's fears or insecurities; or maybe my projections of their fears or insecurities; either way, I'm not being a leader.
So, act like the company you want to be in!
