The Farsi word "ham" means "same," "too," "shared." It also is used as a common prefix, and helps make some of the most beautiful words in my opinion:
- HamKaar, literally, "shared work," means colleague.
- HamSaayeh, literally "shared shadow," means neighbor.
- HamRaah, literally "shared path," means to accompany.
- HamDast, literally "shared hand," means to partner.
- HamShireh, literally "shared milk," means sister.
And my absolute favorite:
- HamSar, literally "shared head," means partner (wife, husband).
Beautiful and poetic, no?
